Pennsylvania State Police reported that more than a pound of methamphetamine and other drugs were recovered during a May 30 traffic stop in Potter Township, Centre County. The case centers on Maximilliam Musser, 36, who now faces felony drug charges.

The complaint describes a search that later turned up methamphetamine, Suboxone film strips, a black scale, smoking devices, residue bags, and other items inside a silver Mercedes Benz sedan. Musser was confined in Centre County Prison after failing to post $25,000 bail.

Speeding Stop on General Potter Highway

A trooper watching traffic on General Potter Highway around 10:37 p.m. on May 30 saw a silver Mercedes Benz sedan traveling 63 mph in a 55 mph zone. That speed gave police the stated reason for the Potter Township stop.

The trooper said he caught up to the sedan and pulled it over for the speeding violation. Maximilliam Musser, 36, was identified as the driver, placing him at the center of a traffic stop that quickly became more serious.

During the stop, police said Musser had a large amount of unknown white powder on his clothing and the driver seat. An officer also reported seeing a glass smoking device, a clear plastic bag with residue, and opened Suboxone packaging.

Search Warrant Leads to Meth and Drug Items

After officers reported seeing drug paraphernalia, they asked Musser for consent to search the Mercedes, according to the complaint. He denied that request, so police took him into custody and transported him to PSP Rockview while a search warrant was issued.

During the warranted search, police said they found a plastic bag containing a large amount of methamphetamine. The complaint also listed a black scale, a glass smoking device, a green silicone container, and two opened packs of Suboxone film strips.

Police also reported finding plastic bags with white residue inside the vehicle. A trooper said baking soda was in the center console, and alleged it can be used to convert cocaine into crack cocaine, a detail likely to draw close review.

Felony Charges and Centre County Jail

Musser was charged with felony intentional possession of a controlled substance by a person not registered. He also faces a felony count for manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, which raises the case above simple possession.

The evidence matters because police reported more than a pound of methamphetamine, Suboxone film strips, residue bags, a scale, and drug smoking devices. Prosecutors may point to those items together when arguing the vehicle held more than personal use materials.

Musser was confined in Centre County Prison on May 31 after failing to post bail set at $25,000. From here, the case will depend on lab results, the search warrant record, and whether the felony allegations hold up in court.

Endnote

Debate around traffic stops becoming drug cases often turns on search authority and public safety. In Potter Township, the debate is sharper because the case now depends on whether the vehicle search, seized items, and officer observations are strong enough to support felony drug allegations.

What comes next is court review of the stop, warrant, and lab testing. Prosecutors will need to connect the methamphetamine, Suboxone strips, scale, residue bags, and baking soda to the felony possession and delivery allegations against Maximilliam Musser in Centre County.
