Kim Farris, Med, LADC, LPC

Clinical Director

Avenues Recovery Oklahoma City

Kim is a duly licensed clinician in the state of Oklahoma. She graduated with honors from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2004 with a Bachelor degree in Biology and double minors in Spanish and Psychology. Kimberly’s early studies in Biology were guided by her aspirations of becoming a Marine Biologist. She was a member of the Honorary Biological Society at UCO and carried out her ambition by publishing an article in the Scientific Journal of Marine Biology. While working towards her bachelor’s degree, Kim remained active in the community and gained experience working with young adults. Kim’s decision to pursue a career in counseling was heavily influenced by these experiences. She went on to graduate school at Southwestern Oklahoma State University where she obtained a Master’s of Education degree in Community Counseling. Throughout graduate school she facilitated independent living skills groups for juvenile delinquent boys who were part of a court ordered adventure program. Kim became a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) and later decided to obtain her Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Kim continued to grow into her role as a counselor as she took advantage of opportunities to work in various levels of care within the helping field. Early in her career, employers took notice of her natural leadership abilities and promoted her to Clinical Director of an adolescent residential treatment center.

Kim gained priceless experience in her role at Four Winds Ranch which prepared her for her next endeavor as Director of Operations for a medically supervised detox facility in Oklahoma City. Kim wrote curriculum and developed the clinical program for both detox and Intensive Outpatient Programs at The Addiction Recovery Center and was a vital part of the leadership team. That program was unable to sustain the low reimbursement rates from commercial insurance companies and closed their doors in January of 2018. At that point, Kim went into private practice where she continued to help people reclaim their lives from the devastating impact of addiction and dysfunctions. Kim was recruited by Avenues Recovery and could not turn down the opportunity to jump back into residential treatment. She was hired as Clinical Director and quickly began implementing an integrated program to equip both individuals and their families to find freedom from the bondage of addiction. Kim’s enthusiasm for recovery is contagious and her passion to help those still struggling shines through in every aspect of her life.
