CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (WAVE) – An addiction treatment facility in Clarksville is expanding for 2026. Avenues Recovery Center has added 48 new beds to accommodate more people seeking sobriety.
“I think that every single person is affected by addiction,” Megan Stevenson, Avenues Recovery Center Clinical Director said. “Any person who doesn’t know what we do here, they will know somebody that’s affected by that. Whether it’s themselves or a loved one they’ve lost to that disease, we all are affected by this, which only tells you the magnitude of addiction in general.”
Avenues Recovery Center opened in Clarksville in 2022 with 91 beds. The newly completed expansion will reduce waiting times for treatment. They are expected to fill up fast, reflecting the seriousness of the problem.
“We see everything,” Stevenson said, “everything from fentanyl to methamphetamines (and) alcohol.”
The 48 new beds added to existing facilities means on any given day, 48 more patients will find the help they need.
This is especially significant for women.
“Statistically speaking, there’s less beds for women,” Stevenson said. “A lot of times women seek treatment less because of children or childcare concerns, pregnancy. A lot of places don’t take women who are pregnant. We do, to a certain gestation.”
Avenues Recovery Center in Clarksville offers a live-in program where patients spend a month or more seeking sobriety.
Avenues reports 58 percent of its patients complete their program, 37 percent higher than the national average.
