Frequently Asked Questions

What are the living accommodations like in Avenues Recovery’s facilities near Philadelphia?

Avenues Recovery’s facilities in Pennsylvania are designed to provide a tranquil haven for individuals seeking addiction treatment. Our two rehab centers near Philadelphia are spacious, airy, and filled with natural light. Located on expansive green grounds with beautiful outdoor pools, our rehabs feel more like retreats than facilities. Inviting lounges, recreation areas, and indoor and outdoor communal spaces create the perfect setting for downtime with peers and the fostering of lifelong friendships. Clients are housed in modern, clean rooms, and our cafeteria boasts nourishing and tasty meals.

Our facilities are suffused with homey, relaxing decor aimed at providing the peace of mind needed to attain real and lasting recovery.

Is smoking allowed in drug and alcohol rehabs near Philadelphia?

Rules about smoking tend to vary in drug and alcohol rehabs in the Philadelphia area. If smoking is important to you, be sure to find out if the facility you plan to attend accommodates this need. At Avenues Recovery, we understand the importance of giving our clients an outlet during recovery. Our two facilities near Philadelphia have designated outdoor smoking areas where clients can smoke during breaks and free time.

What should I bring to rehab in the Philadelphia area?

When packing to go to a drug and alcohol treatment center, it may be helpful to imagine packing for an extended trip away from home. Important items to bring along to a rehabilitation center include:

  • Clothing that are seasonally appropriate and modest
  • Comfortable footwear
  • Alcohol-free toiletries and beauty products
  • Valid ID and medical insurance card
  • Books and journals
  • Pocket money
  • Drivers License

Is there anything I cannot bring to Avenues Recovery addiction rehabilitation centers serving Philadelphia?

At Avenues, promoting inclusivity and safety is of paramount importance to us. We are committed to ensuring every client feels respected and secure. Any items that may cause discomfort or infringe on our dignified atmosphere should be left at home. This includes items or garments that reference vulgarity, gangs, drugs, or violence. Fostering mutual respect also includes dressing modestly, so clothing such as halter tops, strapless tops, spaghetti strap tops, and short shorts should be avoided.

The following items should also not be brought to our rehab centers:

  • Unauthorized electronics
  • Perfumes
  • Toiletries not clearly marked as alcohol-free
  • Weapons
  • Any type of drug paraphernalia
  • Large sums of cash
  • Expensive jewelry
  • Designer goods

Can I have visitors at rehab in Avenues at Lake Ariel or Bucks County?

Drug and alcohol treatment requires concentration and focus. To provide our clients with the necessary space to acclimate to rehab, we have a short ‘blackout’ period at the start of rehab during which no visitors are allowed. After this initial period, visitation and family time are encouraged and supported by Avenues. Our counselors use their experience and expertise to set up specific visitation rules tailored to each client's individual journey. Our facilities also offer family therapy sessions, where clients and their loved ones participate in joint therapy sessions. These sessions provide family members with tools to understand and support their loved ones during treatment and beyond.

Should I attend a drug or alcohol addiction treatment center in the Philadelphia area, or should I travel far from home?

The popular notion of a ‘destination’ rehab has long been debunked as a myth. Stability is of paramount importance for a recovering addict, and the benefits of staying local cannot be emphasized strongly enough. If you're a Philadelphia native seeking treatment, your best option would be to attend a rehab in or near Philadelphia. An additional benefit of attending rehab close to home is that many of the friends you make in rehab live in the surrounding areas, giving you a robust support network when you leave rehab.

What addictions does Avenues Recovery rehab treat?

At Avenues Recovery, we treat both substance and process addictions.

Substance addictions we treat include, but are not limited to, opioids, alcohol, narcotics, hallucinogens, benzodiazepines, heroin, cocaine, stimulants, inhalants, sedatives, and cannabis.

The types of process addictions we treat include gaming, sex, gambling, and shopping.

If you would like to clarify if Avenues treats the addiction you are struggling with, reach out to us to find out more.

How long does rehab take?

The length of stay at drug or alcohol treatment varies based on each individual's journey. As a rule, we believe that the longer you stay at rehab, the more cemented your recovery becomes, decreasing the chances of relapsing. Our addiction rehab facilities located in Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia are extended care programs that are equipped to accommodate our clients for as long as they need.
