Kaitlyn, our Clinical Director, comes to Avenues with 8 years of field experience in social work. Her career began in the Boston area, working with Transitional Aged Youth teenage mothers and emotionally disturbed children and their families.
In 2014 she re-located to the Eastern Shore of Maryland to complete her Advanced Standing Master of Social Work program at Salisbury University. Her career path has included stellar work in the correctional system and eventually as a mental health therapist for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, with expertise in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Kaitlyn’s skillset has been on display wherever she has been. She excels in crisis management, de-escalation, group therapy, family therapy, community coordination, clinical treatment team collaboration along with numerous other creative modalities to effectively assist patients with varied mental statuses on an individual level.
She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Certified and a Maryland Board Approved Supervisor through the Board of Counselors and Therapists, as well as through the Board of Social Work. She received a Level 1 Trauma Certificate through the Ferentz Institute in 2016 and continues to be passionate about the impact that trauma brings to the fields of mental health and addictions.
Throughout her career Kaitlyn has had the honor of working with many types of students in their internships including future Social Workers, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants. Kaitlyn has a genuine love for the all-encompassing field of Social Work. It gives her the ability to utilize creativity with compassion in non-traditional ways. She looks forward to cultivating a balanced, healthy, and team-driven community in the newest Avenues facility on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Tammy Brown hails from Baltimore, Maryland, but has made her home in Salisbury for the last 16 years. She is a Certified Peer Support and a Registered Peer Supervisor, having undergone specialized training to provide support and guidance to others who are going through the same journey that she has experienced. Tammy is passionate about her work and takes great pride in being able to help people just like her.
In addition to her certifications, Tammy is currently working on continuing education courses to recertify her credentials and ensure that she is always up-to-date on the latest developments in her field.
As a person in long term recovery, Tammy has not used any mood changing or mind altering substances for almost 16 years. This journey has been challenging but rewarding, and she takes great joy in being able to give hope to others who are struggling with similar issues. Watching hope come back into clients’ spirits where they were once hopeless upon intake is a priceless experience for Tammy.
Tammy is also a proud mother of three grown children, aged 37, 33, and 25, and a grandmother to three beautiful grandchildren. She is truly grateful for the life she is living today as a person in recovery and tries to live every day to the fullest because she has never seen this day before.
Cathy graduated from Wor-Wic Community College in 2018 with an Associates of Applied Science in Chemical Dependency Counseling. Cathy is passionate about helping those in need and prides herself on being able to connect with people of all backgrounds. She is a fan of ‘keeping it real’ and not sugar-coating things – “Addiction is hard. Recovery is harder. You can do it.” Advocating for client needs is important to her.
Cathy enjoys being creative, knitting, and going to the beach. She resides in Salisbury, MD with her husband, 2 kids, & 3 cats.
Kenesha Taylor is originally from Pocomoke, MD, and has pursued higher education at Wor-Wic Community College and Wilmington University. She has earned an AA Degree and is currently in school working towards completing her BA in the Fall of 2023.

Providing education while giving them strength and hope is her ultimate objective, and she is passionate about achieving that goal. She strongly believes in the transformative power of education and is dedicated to making a positive impact on people’s lives through her work.
When Kenesha is not busy with her studies, she enjoys indulging in her favorite pastimes, such as going to Target, eating crabs, and traveling. These activities help her to unwind and recharge so she can stay focused and motivated in her work.

The staff were helpful and attentive. I began the program during its second month of being open so there were invariably minor logistical issues due, I'm sure, to the new opening and new staff, yet by the end of my stay most of these had been improved or at least addressed. I had an excellent counselor who helped me tremendously with addressing my mental health issues as well as relapse prevention and trauma. The program was a 60 day inpatient drug and alcohol program, which I was unaware of initially, but in the end was grateful for. I would recommend Avenues.read less
