Indiana State Police say Trevor Adkins was arrested after a months-long drug investigation that stretched across Pike and Spencer counties. Officials said a Pike County warrant led to his arrest on US 231 in Spencer County, where more allegations followed.

The case involves suspected methamphetamine, controlled substance pills, marijuana, marijuana wax, THC vapes, paraphernalia, and an open-air K-9 alert. Adkins was later held without bond on Spencer County charges while awaiting extradition to Pike County, according to officials.

Investigation and Pike County Warrant

The Drug Enforcement Section of the Indiana State Police began investigating Adkins in January 2026 over the alleged distribution of suspected narcotics. Officials described it as a months-long case, which means the arrest came after continued police work, not a single brief encounter.

That investigation led to an arrest warrant through Pike County on May 22. The warrant listed charges related to dealing methamphetamine, dealing a Schedule IV controlled substance, and dealing a Schedule II controlled substance, placing the case directly in serious drug dealing territory.

Officials said officers also seized 4 ounces of suspected methamphetamine and 300 suspected controlled substance pills during the wider investigation. Those pills reportedly included 224 grams of suspected Xanax and 14 grams of suspected Adderall, giving prosecutors multiple substance categories to address.

US 231 Stop and Spencer County Arrest

On May 27, officers located an SUV driven by Adkins on US 231 in Spencer County. After the vehicle was pulled over, he was taken into custody on the Pike County warrant, connecting the traffic stop to the earlier drug dealing investigation.

During the encounter, officers said they observed indicators of possible criminal activity. A K-9 officer then conducted an open-air sniff of the SUV and alerted for narcotics, leading officers to search the vehicle and report suspected marijuana and paraphernalia.

An ISP trooper also reported signs of impairment while speaking with Adkins. He was taken to Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City for a chemical test, then transported to the Spencer County Jail on the local charges listed by police.

Petersburg Home Search and Charges

Later that evening, investigators executed a search warrant at Adkins’ residence in Petersburg. Officials said they found about 3 ounces of suspected marijuana, marijuana wax, THC vapes, and paraphernalia, adding a home search layer to the Pike and Spencer County case.

In Pike County, Adkins faces dealing methamphetamine, dealing a Schedule IV controlled substance, dealing a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia. Those charges reflect the longer investigation, not only what officers reported during the US 231 stop.

In Spencer County, Adkins faces OVWI, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia. Officials said he is being held without bond on those charges while awaiting extradition to Pike County, where the drug dealing warrant remains central to the case.

Endnote

Debate around multi-county drug investigations often comes down to whether months of police work justify the searches and charges that follow. In Adkins’ case, the Pike County warrant, US 231 stop, K-9 alert, and Petersburg home search now sit together.

What comes next will likely include Spencer County proceedings, possible extradition to Pike County, chemical test results, and lab review of suspected substances. Prosecutors will need to connect the vehicle search, home search, pills, methamphetamine, and warrant evidence to each charge.
