Jeremy recounts his story from the darkness of addiction to the joy of recovery. Jeremy credits the intimate setting of Avenue's to helping him open up and recover.
My name is Jeremy Eason. I'm an alumnus of Lake Ariel.
I found myself back using, depressed, miserable. Honestly, I didn't want to be here. I was in the midst of addiction, and that's the truth. As I started to open up and get vulnerable and participate in the groups, it was like the smaller setting of Avenues - it was more of an intimate feeling. I could get more honest, and then the magic started to happen. And then it was like, all right, I need to be here. I had to get my head out of the fog.
The basis of my recovery, the foundation, it all started here. Because while I was in this place, in Avenues, I was able to start practicing those things that people would always tell me I needed to do.
Just give it a chance, you know? Don't get caught up in the details and the why's and the how's and the if's. Just give it a shot. It feels great. It's the best feeling in the world being in recovery.
Wherever you're at in your life, you know, whether it's drugs and alcohol that brought you here, brought you there. Wherever it is, what do you have to lose? Recovery worked for me. Avenues worked for me. It could work for you too.
