Frequently Asked Questions

What are the living accommodations like in Avenues Recovery’s facilities close to New Orleans?

Avenues Recovery’s facilities in Pennsylvania are designed to provide a tranquil haven for individuals seeking addiction treatment. Our two rehab centers near Philadelphia are spacious, airy, and filled with natural light. Located on expansive green grounds with beautiful outdoor pools, our rehabs feel more like retreats than facilities. Inviting lounges, recreation areas, and indoor and outdoor communal spaces create the perfect setting for downtime with peers and the fostering of lifelong friendships. Clients are housed in modern, clean rooms, and our cafeteria boasts nourishing and tasty meals.

Our facilities are suffused with homey, relaxing decor aimed at providing the peace of mind needed to attain real and lasting recovery.

Is smoking allowed in drug and alcohol rehabs serving New Orleans?

Smoking policies in addiction rehabs in the New Orleans area vary depending on the facility. In general, most drug and alcohol rehabs allow smoking. The most notable exceptions are rehabs housed within hospital buildings, which usually forbid smoking.

At Avenues Recovery Centers near New Orleans, we understand our clients' need for smoking and therefore allow them to smoke outdoors during their free time.

What should I bring to rehab in the New Orleans area?

We recommend packing comfortable basics, such as shoes, clothing, and outdoor wear. Additional items to bring to a drug and alcohol treatment center include:

  • Alcohol-free toiletries and beauty products
  • Valid ID and medical insurance card
  • Books and journals
  • Pocket money
  • Driver's license

If you're having difficulty thinking of what to pack for an addiction rehabilitation center, try imagining what you would take along for an extended trip away from home.

Are there any items I cannot bring to Avenues Recovery inpatient drug and alcohol rehab centers near New Orleans?

Avenues Recovery rehab facilities stand on the pillars of inclusivity and acceptance, and it is of paramount importance to us to ensure that every client feels respected and safe. As such, anything that may contradict these values and cause our clients discomfort or unease should be left at home. This includes, but is not limited to, items or clothing that reference vulgarity, drugs, gangs, violence, or racism.

Respecting the dignified atmosphere of our treatment centers also includes dressing modestly. Clothing such as halter tops, strapless tops, spaghetti strap tops, and short shorts should be avoided.

We also ask our clients to refrain from bringing the following items to rehab:

  • Unauthorized electronics
  • Perfumes
  • Toiletries not clearly marked as alcohol-free
  • Weapons
  • Any type of drug paraphernalia
  • Large sums of cash
  • Expensive jewelry
  • Designer goods

Can I have visitors at Avenues Recovery’s inpatient rehabs catering to New Orleans?

Every individual's recovery journey is as unique as they are. Therefore, there are no blanket rules regarding visitation during addiction rehab. Our counselors use their experience and expertise to set up specific visitation rules for each client. Since acclimating to rehab takes focus and mindfulness, we employ a short ‘blackout’ period upon arrival, during which no visitors are allowed. After this initial period, we encourage visitation and family time, and our facilities also offer family therapy sessions, where clients and their loved ones participate in joint therapy sessions. These sessions provide family members with tools to understand and support their loved ones during treatment and beyond.

Should I attend a drug and alcohol addiction treatment center close to New Orleans, or should I travel far from home?

Although the idea of ‘destination’ rehab has become popular, the disadvantages of traveling far from home far outweigh its advantages. Arriving at a rehab in a distant state adds to the chaos and disruption that characterize an addict's life. Attending rehab locally provides the safety and stability clients crave, with the added benefits of having their support network nearby. A significant advantage of Avenues Recovery’s Louisiana drug and alcohol rehab programs is that they allow many clients to remain in familiar territory, resulting in a sense of community-based treatment. If you are a New Orleans native seeking effective addiction treatment, staying local and attending a drug and alcohol rehab facility in or near New Orleans is highly advisable.

What addictions does Avenues Recovery rehab treat?

At Avenues Recovery, we accept people struggling with addiction to any type of drug, alcohol or behaviour. We believe that every individual can and should be helped.

Substance addictions we treat include, but are not limited to, opioids, alcohol, narcotics, hallucinogens, benzodiazepines, heroin, cocaine, stimulants, inhalants, sedatives, and cannabis.

The types of process addictions we treat include gaming, sex, gambling, and shopping.

If you would like to clarify if Avenues treats the addiction you are struggling with, reach out to us to find out more.

How long does rehab take?

Addiction rehab isn’t a one-size-fits-all. Treatment length varies based on each individual’s unique situation and journey. In general, we believe that staying longer at rehab increases the chances of reaching and maintaining long-term recovery. Avenues Recovery strongly believes in extended care programs, and our addiction rehab facilities located in Louisiana, near New Orleans, are equipped to accommodate our clients for as long as they need.
