Lauren Alvarez

Lauren Alvarez works as a Primary Counselor at Avenues Recovery Center at Lake Ariel. She holds a BA from Ohio University, is a certified CCAR Recovery Coach, and studied Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counseling at SUNY Stony Brook.

Lauren views her work as a counselor as not a source of livelihood, but a fulfillment of her true passion and purpose in life after struggling with addiction herself. She brings a unique combination of empathy, experience and knowledge to her role, and finds joy in reaching and teaching others. She believes in empowerment through education, and complete faith in the ability for anyone to recover. 

Outside of work, Lauren fills her cup by spending her time with the loves of her life: her two hilarious, creative children, her fiancé, and her zany cat Neil. She loves cheering at children's sporting events and laughing with her family!
