Julia Davis, PLPC, NCC, PCIT Therapist

Julia Davis is a provisional Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Louisiana.  She received her master's in Health Sciences from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA, after making a career change from non-profit education work.  As an intern at the LSU Health Child and Family Counseling Clinic, Julia received training in Parent Child Interaction Therapy and is now a certified PCIT Therapist.   

Julia’s experience working with addiction began as an intern at River Oaks Hospital. She learned about Avenues Recovery Center during her stint there, and took a part-time role in Avenues upon graduating. In November of 2021, she joined the clinical team as a full-time counselor - and has been a valuable member of the team ever since.   

 Julia approaches counseling from a strengths-based perspective and uses Motivational Interviewing and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). She seeks to empower clients to gain awareness of their own motivations and values in order to help guide them toward change.   Julia believes that all individuals, couples, and families are unique, and that counseling is a collaborative process tailored to fit those specific needs of each client.  As a counselor, she provides an authentic, supportive, therapeutic environment that facilitates client exploration and growth.
